Nature Matters

Somerset Wildlife Trust

The interactive game serves as an engaging educational tool, aiming to teach players about the rich and varied habitats found in Somerset, while also highlighting how human activities can affect these environments. It shows four of the main habitats found in Somerset; ancient woodlands, grasslands, wetlands and estuaries, each separated by a busy road and town centre. The four characters have to work their way around the board only crossing roads with suitable ‘Connecting Habitats’ Card. Along the way, players collect 'Change' cards that depict both positive and negative human and environmental impacts, affecting the characters in various ways.

Created specifically for use at Somerset Wildlife Trust events and within schools, this game is intended to spark meaningful conversations about conservation and ecological awareness.

Constructed on durable large-scale plywood boards measuring 1m by 1m, the game features laser-cut game pieces, two sets of cards and an accompanying Species ID sheet.

Rachel has been fantastic supporting us through the design and delivery of our project, and bringing a fledgling idea to fruition. She even engaged in testing the concept within the community, and was receptive to feedback so we could create the best product possible. Her beautiful whimsical, wildlife centric style was exactly what we needed to create an immersive and engaging product for families.
